Dr. J. Will Thompson is Founding Partner and Operations Lead at Move Analytical, where he guides the company’s strategic direction, growth, and fosters collaborations with scientific partners. Will works to ensure the company’s products align with the evolving needs of the scientific community, managing day-to-day operations and promoting Move Analytical’s mission to enable high-throughput analytical solutions for non-experts.
Dr. Thompson holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 2007 to 2021, he served as Assistant Director of Duke University’s Proteomics and Metabolomics Shared Resource, where he developed core mass spectrometry methods that supported over 1,200 interdisciplinary research projects and resulted in over 120 peer-reviewed publications. Currently, he continues to contribute to academia as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology at Duke University School of Medicine, mentoring the next generation of scientists.
Prior to founding Move Analytical, Dr. Thompson served as a Principal Scientist then Director of Life Science Business Development at 908 Devices. His work focused on translating advanced proteomics and metabolomics workflows into accessible tools for biotechnology applications. He also played a key role in business development, collaborating with scientific partners to drive innovation and product development.
