ASMS 2026: Incorporating Unlabeled and Stable Isotope-Labeled Bile Acid Mixtures to Automate Quantitative and Quality Control Phases of HRMS Metabolomics

Poster presentation from the American Society for Mass Spectrometry 2026 annual conference.

Bile acids are modulated in an array of diseases, including prominent changes in the gut based on bacterial symbionts. Quantitative bile acid assays utilizing MRM data from triple quadrupole (TQ) mass spectrometers are widely deployed and analytically robust but typically rely on calibration systems prepared in simple matrices and extensively use surrogate internal standards.

Here, we combine best practices from gold-standard quantitative LC-MS bile acid assays with high-resolution accurate-mass (HRAM) data acquisition to create a kit-based, software-driven workflow for absolute bile acid quantification that is robust, and transferable.
